AWWAS | Project

It's not every day you wake up to an invitation to show people the impactful things you do. It was indeed a memorable time at the Yar'adua Centre at a Public Policy Forum hosted by the Shehu Musa Yar'adua Foundation. The Forum titled Making Communities Safer: The Role of the Student, was organized in a bid to showcase the role of students in creating a safer community as regards gender based violence in school environments.

Our Founder was given the opportunity to give a speech at the event and also showcased some of the images from the 2017 exhibition. She laid the foundation for AWWAS’ forthcoming SHEKWONAZHI project and in light of this, a female Gbagyi potter was invited to take the audience through the beautiful world of pottery. We also had a signature table for the guests to sign by entrenching their painted handprints on little canvas squares. This fine work of art will be used as a wall to campaign against the culture of silence. Cheers to being one step closer to fighting against the culture of silence.
